The Touch NZ Secondary Schools Nationals were held over the weekend at Bruce Pulman Park in Auckland. One big part of the successful tournament is the Referees that volunteer their time to attend such events. As mentioned in last week’s newsletter, 16 referees from Canterbury were selected to referee at NZSS, as well as Claire Duncan who helped with looking after the referees and Alister Stevenson who attended as a Touch NZ Referee Coach for the tournament.
The following referees were awarded Finals Appointments at NZSS:
• Logan Forrester – Mixed Final, ranked 5th
• Alisha Ruaiti – Mixed Final, ranked 6th and Female referee of the tournament.
• Will Hutchinson – Girls Final, ranked 8th and Youth Referee of the tournament.
• Cameron Wootton – Girls Final, ranked 10th.
The following referees from Canterbury received an upgrade:
• Thomas Pilkington Level 2
• Lawrence Colvin Level 3
A massive congratulations to all those referees that attended the NZSS Nationals, were appointed a final or upgraded. You have all outdone yourselves both on and off the field. You should be proud of your efforts and any achievements you have made, as the referee group and TC are proud of what you have achieved.
You will find more photos of the referees in action in the Canterbury Refs 2017-18 season album on the Touch Canterbury facebook page.
